Dedicated to the Gaelic Language of the Isle of Man

"Cooish Cappan as Croo": day event featuring workshops, stalls, live music, delicious food, mini-golf & more!

On Saturday 4th November between 10am – 3pm there will be an outreach event in Castletown, called ‘Cooish, Cappan as Croo’ (“COO-sh, CAV-an az CROO”), taking place at the Civic Hall, Art Squared, The George, and Castletown library.

One of the meanings of ‘cooish’ is a cosy chat, ‘cappan’ is the word for ‘cup’ – indicating that there’ll be tea and coffee aplenty! – and ‘croo’ means ‘to create’ in Manx.

The event will feature some lovely stalls where you can buy books and items with Manx on, and find out more about the language; mini-golf using  Manx numbers with the lovely folk from Birdies Mini Golf; live music from Ruby Biscoe-Taylor (Biskee Brisht) at 11.30am, Manx Gaelic community choir Un Choraa at 12pm, and young harpists providing some beautiful background music. There will also be some delicious refreshments available to buy from Cafe Mooinjer Veggey. Around 12.30pm, some awards will also be presented.

During the day, there will be a multitude of workshops suitable for adults and children - make sure that you book your spot as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, as these are proving extremely popular. Read on to find the timetable of workshops, as well as booking details!
