Magic swords, witches' potions, and the ancient Kingdom of Mann – a new Manx language book has it all.
Former Bunscoill Ghaelgagh teacher and recent Reih Bleeaney Vanannan (RBV) recipient Annie Kissack has translated Yn Cliwe Macabuin into Manx Gaelic. Aimed at older primary school children, the book is designed both for individual reading and as a classroom resource for exploring the island's Viking heritage.
The story is adapted from a traditional tale found in Manx Fairy Tales by Sophia Morrison and follows the legend of a magical sword, which also inspired an original Bunscoill musical.
Illustrator Ryan Morrison brings the tale to life with bold, comic-book style ar twork that adds colour and humour, boosting the book’s appeal to young readers.
Annie said: "I've always been aware of the need for more attractive Manx Gaelic reading resources. This book, with its vibrant illustrations, is a wonderful addition to our educational materials."
