Ruadhan, y chied Ree jeh Skeerey Maghal! Well done to Ruadhan on his Manx speech

When Ruadhan found out he was to be crowned the first ever Parish King at Maughold Parish Day 2022, which took place mid-July, he knew that he wanted to mark the occasion and give his acceptance speech in Manx. Ruadhan really enjoys his Manx lessons at primary school from the Skimmee (Manx Language Unit, DESC) and felt it was important to speak in Manx on the day, so his family got in touch with us for a bit of help. We were delighted to assist! Ruadhan spoke in Manx, and then in English, and you can read his speech below:

Good afternoon and welcome to Maughold Parish Day. 

Ta mee feer vaynrey dy ve ayns shoh jiu
I am very happy to be here today 

S’eunyssagh fakin whilleen dy leih ayns shoh jiu dy yannoo ardeailley jeh Laa Skylley Maghal.
It is lovely to see so many people here today to celebrate Maughold Parish Day.
